People that know I have MS will ask me, “What type do you have?” I can’t answer the question because I didn’t know there were various types. What types of MS are there and what are each effects?

Your Neurologist should be telling you that info… but there are lots of resources online that you can read to understand it all a little more (Healthtalk was my fav when I was first diagnosed for its ease of language):http://www.nationalmssociety.org/What%20is%20MS.asphttp://www.mult-sclerosis.org/http://www.healthtalk.com/multiplesclerosis/http://www.msif.org/en/ms_the_disease/
I would ditto all of what Kim said, particularly about HealthTalk. That site is very straightforward and not cluttered up with a lot of other stuff. I think my favorite site overall might be http://multiplesclerosissucks.com. Of course, I have a deep appreciation for sarcasm and humor, which I know rubs some people the wrong way. To each his own.
Man I love google…anyway, I didnt know there were 6 forms…http://www.themcfox.com/multiple-sclerosis/types-of-ms/types-of-multiple-sclerosis.htmWhich category I fit into, I dunno. I sometimes feel bad knowing how people have the disease so much worse off than me, which should be a blessing on my part. Since my first symptom, I have had nothing more than simple numbness and some cognitive imparment (I had to get a PDA because my memory was so bad).
The three phases I’ve noticed are: Not So Bad It Sucks It Sucks Really Bad!;-)There are actually 4 types (maybe a 5th if you count benign, which I’m not sure I do), but if you don’t know than you almost certainly have relapsing-remitting.
